According to the ancient myths, Daphne (Greek for Laurel), the beloved forest nymph of Apollo, God of Light and Prophecy, was transformed by the God himself into the well-known daphne/laurel plant. Therefore, the laurel’s leaves became associated with seer practices all over Greece. Among the famous practitioners that were known for the use of daphne is the Pythia priestess from the Delphic Oracle.
